It provides a user-friendly interface that simplifies the comparison of individual test results to a comprehensive database of normal reference values derived from healthy children and adolescents.

Users can quickly compare laboratory results against reference intervals for over 100 commonly performed tests used in evaluating various pediatric medical conditions. The CALIPER database has undergone rigorous validation and has been published in leading international medical journals, earning recognition as one of the most current and reliable reference resources available globally.

Reference intervals define the expected range of values in healthy individuals for specific laboratory tests. Results falling outside these ranges can alert healthcare providers to potential abnormalities, prompting further investigation or adjustments in management and monitoring strategies.

The reference intervals incorporated within the app originate from the Canadian Laboratory Initiative for Pediatric Reference Intervals (CALIPER), a nationwide study conducted at the Hospital for Sick Children. Historically, available pediatric reference values have been outdated or imprecise; CALIPER addresses this gap by providing updated intervals that account for the developmental and hormonal changes characteristic of childhood.
